Langkawi Development Authority

History

Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) was established by the federal government to plan, promote and implement development on the island of Langkawi.LADA was officially established on March 15, 1990 under the Langkawi Development Authority Act 1990 (Act 423) and placed under the authority of the Ministry of Finance.

With the launch of the Langkawi Tourism Blueprint (2011-2015) by the Prime Minister of Malaysia on December 8, 2011 was the beginning of the second curve for LADA and Langkawi to leap to a higher level in the eye of the world.

LADA has full responsibility appointed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia as a coordinating agency in the development and restructuring of Langkawi to become a top world-class tourist destination.

To ensure that the call by Central Government to make this island among the top ten world-famous tourist destination is reached, Langkawi Development Authority strategic plan was drafted in a very critical period based on the approach of Blue Ocean Strategy, which involves five priority areas of Tourism, Organization Development and Community Development followed by Infrastructure Development and Investment.
